Celebrating 50 years of the Deuna plant with 5,000 visitors
On 6th September 2025, the Deuna cement plant (Germany) celebrated its 50th anniversary by opening its doors to visitors from the Eichsfeld region and beyond. From morning until late afternoon, around 5,000 guests took the opportunity to discover the heart of cement production up close. Among the distinguished guests were Mario Suckert, State Secretary from the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, and David Gregosz, member of the German Bundestag.
The celebration featured a rich and diverse program that appealed to all ages. Exhibitions retraced the plant’s 50-year history, while demonstrations of modern large-scale vehicles offered a closer look at today’s production technologies. Musical entertainment reached its peak with the lively brass band Die Blechbuben, creating a festive atmosphere, and children’s songwriter Mathi delighted the youngest visitors, encouraging them to sing and dance.
Children’s eyes lit up at a dedicated area, with a creative workshop on cement production, a forklift obstacle course and the opportunity of leaving their mark with cement handprints. Creativity also took center stage in the “Fascination Cement Plant” photo contest, open until September 2026, whose best shots will be selected for the 2027 calendar. At the end of the day, three lucky winners of the stamp card quiz were awarded attractive prizes, while local food vendors served delicious regional specialties.
The Open Day proved to be not only a festive celebration but also a valuable occasion for employees, former colleagues and the local community to share memories, exchange experiences and discuss the plant’s future.
