The lock of Ijmuiden
Dyckerhoff Basal has installed two mobile, concrete production plants on an artificial island at the entrance to the port of Amsterdam.
The plants will provide a total of approximately 300,000 m3 of concrete for the construction of a new lock that will allow larger ships to access the city’s port.
Daily production is around 1,600 m3, with peaks of 200 m3/hour, while the cement comes from plants in Neuss and Neuwied.
The new lock will be 500 m long, 70 m wide and 18 m deep, and upon completion will be the largest in the world.
Begun in 2016, construction will complete in late 2019.
