Once again this year gardenias and hydrangeas were available for purchase at the Casale headquarters in support of AISM, the only organization in Italy that takes a structured approach to every aspect of multiple sclerosis, from protecting the rights of people with the condition and promoting social and healthcare services to funding scientific research.

The company made two points of sale available throughout the day. In return for a minimum donation of €15, participants could choose a gardenia or hydrangea plant.

As in previous years, everyone's contribution helped support scientific research into multiple sclerosis and related conditions and strengthen services for people affected by the disease.

Barletta Plant (BT) - When AVIS calls, Buzzi Unicem answers!

The Barletta plant hosted the Special Blood Donation Day, a long-standing annual event organized in partnership with AVIS Barletta. During the morning, the mobile blood donation unit welcomed numerous employees and members of the public who chose to make a tangible gesture of solidarity.

There were also plenty of fun activities for younger children. Around 30 local volunteer associations involved in social support and inclusion attended the event. Barletta Plant (BT) - The “CREATIVE CEMENT 3.0” workshop in Barletta

For the third consecutive year, the Barletta plant hosted the “CREATIVE CEMENT 3.0” workshop from January 12 to 16 in partnership with the Cassandro-Fermi-Nervi ITET school in Barletta.

Ten students took part, each assisted by a peer tutor, as part of the work-study programs promoted by Buzzi Unicem. The initiative was conducted with support from ScartOFF, a local association active in creative reuse and environmental education.

At the end of the program, the participants presented decorative objects made from cement mortar, the product of their creativity and teamwork.

This year's edition once again achieved its goal of fostering the inclusion of neurodiverse students by promoting peer tutoring. The initiative thus remains an important opportunity for schools and industry to come together in the name of inclusion.

Monselice Plant (PD) - Working together on a creative recycling project

The goal of the CREATE, RECYCLE, LOVE project is to bring schools and the local community closer together around sustainability. This workshop for young artists was created through a partnership between Buzzi Unicem, local schools, and the Ri-crearti creative studio.
The initiative involved classes from the Vittorio Emanuele II Primary School in Monselice and forms part of the partnership launched in July 2024 between the company and the Zanellato Institute to promote educational programs that have a positive impact on the community and younger generations.
The workshops were led by Debora Basei, an artist and founder of the Ri-crearti studio in Conegliano who has extensive experience designing educational programs for primary schools. The artist guided the students through a creative program that invited them to look closely at disused objects and unused materials, often destined for recycling, and transform them into new forms of expression.
The children created works that will remain at the school and were displayed in April and May in the “Eco: Sustainable Network” exhibition at the plant. The works also formed part of the set for the musical event in May, which brought together schools from Monselice and Arquà Petrarca.

Vernasca Plant (PC) - “Animal-Assisted Activity” in Vernasca

Buzzi Unicem is continuing its partnership with La Collina dei Ciuchini to develop a series of educational programs focusing on animals, their importance in people's lives, and their relationships with children.

In recent years, a growing number of schools in Italy and other countries have added AAIs (animal-assisted interventions) to their educational programs in recognition of their educational and relational value.

Given the large number of participants, three two-hour meetings were organized in February for elementary school students from Lugagnano, Morfasso, and Vernasca.

Each morning ended with a tour of the plant, giving the children a complete, engaging educational experience.

Casale Monferrato Headqurters (AL) - Buzzi Unicem and Leardi complete a three-year program of educational excellence

On Wednesday, April 15, the meetings for the ambitious three-year project organized for the Leardi IIS school in Casale Monferrato concluded with a visit to the Vernasca cement plant (PC).

The program began in October 2023 with the launch of a structured three-year partnership designed to give students in the Construction, Environment, and Land Management program a comprehensive, practical overview of the cement and concrete industry.

The meetings, presented by Buzzi employees, covered various topics, ranging from the use of concrete and sustainability to the cement production cycle and safety, as well as a morning devoted to the responsible use of social media. The project also included an unconventional event: a partnership with the Le Muse Music Academy of Casale Monferrato featuring promising young jazz musician Mattia Basilico, who gave students an in-depth look “behind the scenes” at the work of a professional musician.

The visit to the cement plant generated great enthusiasm among students and teachers, giving them an opportunity to experience what they had learned in their classroom lessons firsthand and see how the plants are organized.

Robilante Plant (CN) - Career Day 2026 at the Delpozzo ITIS in Cuneo

Buzzi Unicem once again took part in the Mario Delpozzo ITIS Career Day, a well-established event that brings schools and the working world together.

Given the large number of participating companies, the school principal organized the initiative over two days. On the first day, local companies introduced themselves to around 80 final-year students, divided according to their specializations. These ranged from more traditional programs such as Chemistry and Materials, Information Technology, Mechanics and Mechatronics, and Electronics to programs created in response to new market needs, such as Smart Robot, Chemistry and Health Biotechnology, Home Automation, and Logistics.

Following a brief company introduction on behalf of the Robilante cement plant, its youngest employee, Daniele Ferrino, spoke to the students. Born in 2005, he is a former Delpozzo student with a diploma in mechatronics. His account of his recent rewarding professional experience attracted considerable interest.

The second day was devoted to brief career guidance interviews organized according to the students' courses of study and individual interests. Fourteen students chose to attend an initial introductory interview with our company, bringing their resumes, determination, and enthusiasm.

BUilt (VC) - A week of visits to BUilt

This spring, Built once again held events for high school and university students, including a visit by students from the G. Faccio ITIS in Vercelli and a workshop with UPO's Green Chemistry course.

This well-established initiative gives young people an opportunity to learn about the work performed in our laboratories firsthand, observe processes and equipment, and participate actively with interest and curiosity.

University students were also offered hands-on work in the UPO laboratories as part of Professor Geo Paul's Cement Chemistry course, strengthening the partnership between Buzzi and the university.

These meetings provide an important opportunity for discussion and career guidance and confirm our commitment to developing relationships with the local community and younger generations.

Robilante Plant (CN) - 84 new plants for Earth Day

On Wednesday, April 22, to mark Earth Day, we organized a wonderful project in Robilante with final-year students from the Virginio‑Donadio Agricultural IIS school in Cuneo.

The program included a classroom session on environmental restoration led by our co-worker Clara Garigliano, followed by a sack lunch provided by the cement plant and the planting of young trees and shrubs in accordance with the approved environmental restoration project.

Because of the poor weather that morning, the students and teachers remained in the cement plant's conference room, where they attended a company presentation on the Group and a session on quarry rehabilitation. The latter was of particular interest to the students given their specific course of study. In the early afternoon, they moved to the shale quarry to carry out the planting. Six plots of 14 plants each were planted, for a total of 84 saplings.

The project will continue in the fall. The new students will assess how well the plants have taken root and grown and will take part in a new planting campaign.

Barletta Plant (BT) - Mural dedicated to cement's past, present, and future unveiled in Barletta

On May 26, Buzzi Unicem's Barletta plant unveiled a major mural created by the artist PISKV (Francesco Persichella) with the assistance of students from class 3aAL at the De Nittis Art High School.

The work, 15 meters long and almost 9 meters high, dominates the plant's main entrance and has become a new visual landmark for the city. The project grew out of a competition for ideas on the theme “The Cement Industry: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” which involved students specializing in graphic arts and painting.

Of the 11 entries submitted, Carolina Calefato's “Cement Plant in Color” was selected as the winner. Building on her work, PISKV developed the entire mural, which was completed with direct contributions from the students.

Following the experience in 2025, the initiative remains an outstanding example of cooperation between the company and schools. It celebrates young people's talent and gives the industrial and urban setting a new visual identity.

To summarize the artistic process we had the honor of witnessing, we borrow the words of one of the world's greatest street artists: “I don't think about art when I'm working. I try to think about life.” (Jean Michel Basquiat).

Siniscola Plant (NU) - Restoring the Tanca Altara citrus orchard: IPSAR Siniscola students take the lead

Students in the Agriculture program at IPSAR Siniscola played the leading role in restoring the Tanca Altara citrus orchard, a project combining education, environmental protection, and promotion of the local area.

Guided by their teachers, they put their acquired skills into practice by pruning orange, lemon, and mandarin trees, helping to improve the plants' health.

The project continued with the planting of new Pompia trees, a typical local citrus variety donated by the RE-AGISCI Association, to support biodiversity.

This commendable initiative strengthens cooperation among schools, the local area, and the community while taking a practical approach to sustainability and educating younger generations.

On May 23, students from the Vittorio Emanuele Primary School in Monselice and the Andrea Naccari Primary School in Arquà Petrarca concluded the “Sounds and Colors of the Earth” project with a final performance at the Monselice plant.

Created through a partnership among Buzzi Unicem, the schools, and the Alidarte and ON Stage associations, the project combined a music program with an art program. Through music, the children developed expressive and interpersonal skills, while the art workshop introduced them to sustainability and creative reuse.

Guided by experts, the students created works from reclaimed materials as the centerpiece of an educational program held from January to May.

The final performance was an exciting, well-attended occasion for children and families that brought an educational experience centered on creativity and sharing to a close.

On Friday, March 6, we celebrated Employee Appreciation Day in Augusta for the second consecutive year. It was a special occasion dedicated to everyone who brings commitment and passion to their work each day. The day began with a small “sweet” surprise: an artisanal chocolate bearing a special personalized message, attached by a magnet to each locker in the changing rooms or placed on the employee's desk. It was a simple but sincere way to remind everyone how valuable each person's contribution is. The celebration then got into full swing with a convivial lunch break. It was the perfect opportunity to officially open the new outdoor relaxation area and game corner, which features many board games designed to build even greater team spirit in the Giulia Room, already home to foosball and ping pong competitions. Amid music, karaoke, checkers, and burraco matches, we also celebrated the Fanta Safety winners and honored those who distinguished themselves during the program. It was a day filled with positive energy that once again confirmed how small gestures and daily attention to people are the driving force behind a strong company and an increasingly united team.
