1907

Pietro and Antonio Buzzi found Fratelli Buzzi Cementi, with a production site in Trino (VC).

1910 - 1940

In 1923, a second cement plant with two automated vertical kilns and a shaft kiln for limestone lump is built in Casale Monferrato (AL).

1941 - 1964

During the postwar period, the old limestone shaft kiln at Casale Monferrato is radically transformed into an automated Loesche vertical kiln with an electrostatic filter

1965 - 1970

In 1965, the third generation of the family initiates the la Presa operations with the Robilante (CN).

1971 - 1980

In 1975, the company begins producing expanded clay at the Trino Plant. The Robilante plant grows to its current size with the construction of the third large production line.

1981 - 1987

In 1981, the group expands its operations overseas with the acquisition of a large share of Corporación Moctezuma.

1990 - 1997

Addiment Italia, a joint venture between the Fratelli Buzzi group and HeidelbergCement, the leading cement producer in Germany, is established in 1990.

1997 - 1998

On May 13, 1997 an agreement is entered into between Fratelli Buzzi Cementi and IFI/IFIL for the taking over of a stake in Unicem SpA’s ordinary stock which would lead, two years later, to the merger of the two groups.

1872

The Cementi Marchino company founded by geom. Luigi Marchino starts producing lime at the Casale Monferrato (AL) plant.

1910 - 1940

In 1924, operating under the name of Marchino & C., the company installs the first rotary kiln in Casale Monferrato.

1941 - 1970

In 1969, after acquiring SAICE (Industrie Cementifere Emiliane e Cementeria di Augusta), which is owned by IFI, Unione Cementi Marchino changes its name to Unicem.

1971 - 1986

In 1973, Unicem S.p.A. is listed on the stock exchange and enters the US market in 1979 with the acquisition of 20% ownership of River Cement in St. Louis, Missouri.

1987 - 1998

In 1987, Cementeria di Augusta S.p.A. is listed on the stock exchange, followed by Cementeria di Barletta S.p.A.

1864 - 1883

On 4 June 1864, Wilhelm Gustav Dyckerhoff and sons Gustav and Rudolf found Portland-Cement-Fabrik Dyckerhoff & Söhne in Amöneburg, establishing it as a corporation in 1866.

1884 - 1935

In 1884, Dyckerhoff delivers 8,000 barrels of Portland cement to America to build the base of the Statue of Liberty.

1936 - 1984

In 1936, the company changes its name to Dyckerhoff Portland-Zementwerke AG.

1985 - 2003

In 1985, the company changs its name to Dyckerhoff AG, and creates the Dyckerhoff Ausbauprodukte division to further expand its activities in the finishing products sector.

1999 - 2000

In 1999, Buzzi Cementi absorbes Unicem to become Buzzi Unicem S.p.A., which is listed on the Italian stock exchange. Its holdings includes 13 production units in Italy, five plants in the USA, and one in Mexico.

2001 - 2002

In 2001, Buzzi Unicem establishes a partnership with the Dyckerhoff family, a leading shareholder of the Dyckerhoff cement company in Germany.

2003 - 2004

In 2003, Buzzi Unicem acquires 5.5% of the ordinary share capital of Dyckerhoff from Holcim, increasing its holdings to 49.6% of ordinary shares and 62.2% of preferred shares, in other words, 55.9% of Dyckerhoff’s capital.

2005 - 2006

In 2005, Buzzi Unicem acquires 91.20% of the ordinary shares of Dyckerhoff and 76.73% of the total capital, including the preferred shares, and that same year Pietro and Michele Buzzi are appointed CEOs by the Board of Directors.

2007 - 2008

In January 2007, Buzzi Unicem’s ordinary shares (BZU.MI) are listed on the S&P/MIB index. In the Netherlands, the new subsidiary Basal starts operations, while work begins on the construction of line 5 at Sukhoi Log in Russia.

2009 - 2010

In August, Buzzi Unicem USA successfully starts up River 7000, a new production line with excellent efficiency in terms of electricity and fuel consumption.

2011 - 2012

On 15 February 2011, Franco Buzzi, Vice President of the company and one of the main architects of its extraordinary growth over the last 15 years.

2013 - 2014

2013 kicks off with a record, 70-hour non-stop pouring of the monolithic foundation in Turin of the tallest skyscraper in Italy, designed by the architect Fuksas. As for the concrete operations, Buzzi Unicem Next obtained CE marking.

2015 - 2016

In early 2015, the Oil Well Cement production project destined for North African markets is initiated at the Siniscola plant.

2017 - 2018

On January 26, with the governor of the State of Veracruz, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares in attendance, our Mexican subsidiary Corporación Moctezuma officially inaugurates the new production line at the Apazapan plant.

2019 - 2020

At the beginning of the year, Basal receives a substantial order to supply approximately 450,000 m3 of ready-mix concrete for the construction of two large projects in Rotterdam

2021 - 2022

On April 16, Companhia Nacional de Cimento (CNC), of which Buzzi Unicem holds 50% of the capital together with Grupo Ricardo Brennand, acquires all of the CRH group’s companies operating in Brazil.

2023 - 2024

On May 12th, 2023, the Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting approved the change of the company's name from Buzzi Unicem SpA to Buzzi SpA, marking a new chapter in the company’s history. This change, started at the beginning of the year with the restructuring of the company in Italy (the creation of Buzzi Unicem Srl), aims to more clearly identify the role of the parent company as the legal entity responsible for the ownership, management, and coordination of all its Italian and foreign subsidiaries.
